During a kitchen renovation, the owners of an old house discovered a collection of gold coins worth over R$ 1 million. While making changes to the kitchen in 2019, the owners of an 18th-century house found over 260 gold coins that could reach a value of £250,000 in an auction scheduled for October.
In a press release, the renowned auction house Spike and Son, based in London, revealed that this discovery is one of the largest treasures of English gold coins from the 18th century ever found in Britain.

The coins, dating from 1610 to 1727, likely belonged to a mercantile family, the Fernley-Maisters, who were highly influential from the late 16th century to the 18th century.
Among the collection, some coins stand out as unique, including a Brazilian gold coin minted in 1720.
